I recently custom made this gold and lapis lazuli pendant to make a matching set with the gold and silver lapis lazuli ring. It looks so pretty wrapped in gold because often lapis lazuli contains tiny specks of golden colored pyrite. I am wire forming for use in a pair of hoop earrings. First I melt silver scrap and pour it into an ingot maker, an ingot is a little bar of metal. Once I have that little bar I roll it through a rolling mill and slowly change its form into a long square wire. It takes many passes through each section of the rolling mill to proceed to smaller sizes. Once I have the wire close to my desired round wire thickness, I begin to draw it through a wire plate because that squeezes it into round wire shape.
