Hand cut jade with an unusual patterns of darker green. It appears translucent in the sunlight and opaque in the shadows. After cutting and polishing the jade I made a split silver ring textured with hammering. The jade is special and from the state of Wyoming where I bought a large chunk from a miner. Very special nephrite jade earrings that I cut and polished in my studio. ✨ These earrings and others are available on my website, and in a stellar new gallery-boutique in Mendocino called Catkins, and I will be selling them in person on December 4 an awesome artist pop-up sale in Fort Bragg at Art Scene Studio. ✨ Nephrite jade is one of the toughest gemstones in the world and so I can cut it very thinly and it keeps its strength. What I love about this aspect of jade is that I can sculpt it thin and it becomes translucent like stained glass when held in the sunlight. Not all jade is translucent but high quality stones are extra special and will do this. ✨ This jade is from the state of Wyoming and there is a vein of it found in the beautiful high sagebrush deserts.
