I am at the workbench and building bezel settings for some new jade and turquoise that I finished cutting and polishing. The stones look shiny and colorful and I am excited to turn them into new jewelry. This photo is just one step of the process: I have already measured, formed, and soldered the bezels and now I am preparing to attach them to the backing silver. I am filing the bottom of the bezel flat and also flattening the backing pieces so that there will be a perfect connection where I can flow solder with my torch. 🔥 #jade #turquoise #customjewelry #artistprocess #jewelrydesign #artstudio #mendo #madeincalifornia #norcal #wyomingjade #americanturquoise
New! This saturated jade captures the sunlight and provides depth because it is semi translucent. Throughout the dark green are light sage green snowflakes. I cut and polished this jade in my studio and set in silver. This jade was sourced in the state of Wyoming, in the Rocky Mountains, where there is a wonderful deposit of the stone that is known for its natural beauty. Find here: www.isabeljewelry.com (link in bio). 🌿 #jade #NephriteJade #WyomingJade #GreenGemstone #Lapidary #HandmadeJewelry #crafted
I present a powerful Jade Leaf Bracelet, hand carved multi-green jade set in sparkling hammered silver. This bracelet makes a statement while also being lightweight and comfortable to wear. You can find it on my website www.isabeljewelry.com it is one of a kind! Swipe to see it modeled on my maker’s wrist! This features Rocky Mountain, state of Wyoming, sourced jade that I carved in-studio. 💚 #Jade #NephriteJade #statementjewelry #PowerBracelet #CuffBracelet #oceansounds
Pink Goddess Glam Ring! A huge bubble of Peruvian Pink Opal is set on my five-band Glamour Ring. This is a large pink stone that is milky and a touch translucent on the sides; I decided to go for it and make a large statement ring with it. The tapering ring band makes it comfortable to wear despite its large size. And you look fabulous when you have it on your hand. It is now available on my website. www.isabeljewelry.com Modeled on my humble maker’s hand.⚡️ #pinkopal #Glamorous #StatementRing #ShowMeYourRings #PinkGemstones #MendocinoCoast #Mendo #Handmade #peruvianopal
Evolution of a lapis lazuli heart. I am in the studio and cutting and polishing lapis lazuli, jade, and turquoise. Hearts are challenging to cut because of the dip in the top. Besides these, I am cutting a big variety of shapes to use in my jewelry. 🥳 #AmericanTurquoise #Lapislazuli #NephriteJade #Lapidary #Stonecutting #ArtistStudio #Process #ArtisticProcess #DesignProcess
Planet Earth Ring. Years ago I began studying gemology and around the same time I began cutting my own gemstones. In my studies, I realized I hadn’t been thinking about the sources of my gems. When you buy gems they’re sold to you simply as “garnet, amethyst, diamond, etc” without any backstory of locale or people. I began to think about all that goes into bringing a gem to my piece of jewelry: places, peoples, and politics all intersecting. Like the trends of farm-to-table and slow-fashion, I began trying to source a lot of my stones regionally or ask about the stone’s origin. Because I individually make each piece of jewelry, it only makes sense that I have more of a connection to my gemstones. I learned how to cut and polish my own so that I could further dive into this idea and our regional treasures. This ring features interesting jade that I sourced from a small-time rock hound in the state of Wyoming in the Rocky Mountains. I bought a few chunks of “rough” that I sliced, sculpted, and polished. This particular dome feels beautifully earth like and captures the essence of the natural world with its pattern of black and white spots. You can find it on my website www.isabeljewelry.com 🌏🌍🌎💚💙💚💙💚💙 #happyearthday #planetearth #ilovenature #lapidary #mendocinocoast
