Chalcedony Wings Earrings – Handcut Stones

This chalcedony is striped clear and white and we found it in the sagebrush desert of Wyoming. I cut and polished it into thin slices so that you can see light through the stone. When I initially sliced it in my rock saw I saw that it looked like a little wing of a butterfly or small bird so instead of carving the edges into a shape I left its natural form.

I have hammered and bent a single strip of silver to hang these earrings on handmade silver ear wires. I drilled a tiny hole and riveted this strip to the stone to allow for just a touch of glittering silver above the beautiful naturally colored stone.

These earrings are medium-long and are approximately 2 inches not including ear wire.
