Description
I cut this jade from a stone that was found in Mendocino County, California. The entire west coast has jade deposits and the colors and patterns vary depending on the locale. Much of the jade in the Mendocino area has very pale green and white mixed with a darker green. Jade is a rare among stones because it is extremely tough and so it can be cut very thinly and keep its strength. I like to cut and polish it so thin because it becomes translucent like stained glass.
This drop is approximately 3/4″ x 2″ and has a sterling silver hammered bail that I riveted through the stone. It hangs on an 18″ silver cable chain.
Jade (Mendocino, CA), Sterling Silver.
