I found and cut this quartzite from the Red Desert of Wyoming to make these earrings. Each one has a small spots of a pretty light brown. They look like opaque strawberry ice cream but then are secretly translucent when held to a bright light because of the quartz crystalline structure.
I have hammered and bent a single strip of silver to hang these earrings on handmade silver ear wires. I drilled a tiny hole and riveted this strip to the stone to allow for just a touch of glittering silver above the beautiful naturally colored stone.
They are long in length and 2 1/4 inches not including ear wires.
