This is pink quartzite from the Red Desert of Wyoming that I found and carved to make these earrings. Each one also has areas of a pretty light brown color. They look like opaque strawberry ice cream but then are secretly translucent when held to a bright light because of the quartz crystalline structure.
I have hammered and bent a single strip of silver to hang these earrings on handmade silver ear wires. I drilled a tiny hole and riveted this strip to the stone to allow for just a touch of glittering silver above the beautiful naturally colored stone.
These are medium in length and the are about 1 3/4 inches.
