Locally Sourced Stones

Written July 27, 2012

I love the opportunity to feature regionally mined stones.  I’ve just posted two new rings to this site; one has a Utah petrified dinosaur bone and the other a Pilot Mountain, Nevada turquoise.

Happy Solstice! I love this longest day of the year and summer is my favorite season. Here are two glittering spots of golden sunshine for this longest day, the Gold Sunshine Earrings. You can find them on my website www.isabeljewelry.com (link in bio), they are solid 14k gold and each pair varies a little from the next because they’re individually handmade and hammered. They are smaller, about a half inch in diameter. Happy summertime! 🌞🌟🌞 #HappySolstice #Solstice #Sunshine #Glittering #GoldenSunshine #HammeredJewelry #goldsmith
I just added six new custom rings to my website! I cut all these gems (except the rectangle turquoise) and all of the them are from the USA. The jade is from the Rocky Mountains, state of Wyoming. And the green within the jade varies from dark emerald to a medium green and many have beautiful speckles that make them one-of-a-kind. The turquoise is from a small collection of rough (and a few pre-cut stones) I purchased many years ago from a retired lapidary. You can see more info on my website, I will be adding as I take studio photos. ✨ www.isabeljewelry.com ✨find them in the Rings categories. (don’t see your size? You can contact me about custom orders.) ✨🌟✨#Lapidary #NephriteJade #AmericanTurquoise #WyomingJade#Handcrafted #SilverSmith #NorthernCalifornia #mendo #mendocino #fortbraggca #Wyoming #OceanScenes #FutureHeirlooms #OneOfAKind
Who says aliens are only extraterrestrial? We had fun with them in the tidepools this morning. Nature never ceases to inspire and awe me. 🌎
THE ENERGY IS MY TEACHER rings are now available at the Larry Spring Museum and on their website! This little museum is dedicated to outsider artist, inventor, and physics philosopher Larry Spring. When you go inside you find an awesome display of his brushless solar motors that he invented, a big display of his rocks as he was an avid rockhound, his small wooden sculptures made out of odd bits of driftwood and other organic matter, paintings, his books and diagrams. The museum is now being shepherded by Director Anne Maureen McKeating and she continues his spirit of community by continually inviting artists, musicians, and performers to come to the space. She is able to provide small stipends to artists through fundraising including sales of this ring that she commissioned. All of your purchase proceeds go to artists and programming. It is available in multiple sizes on their website.🌞🪺 “The energy is my teacher” was a mantra of Larry Spring and I read it as a mixture of his deep explorations into the world of physics combined with his desire to keep the energy of other people around him through community outreach and free physics classes. I think it’s a good saying to keep on your hand and helps reflection. 🍀🍄💐 You can find this museum in downtown Fort Bragg, California. www.larryspringmuseum.org @larry.spring.museum and it is housed with favorite vintage store Lost Coast Found @lostcoastfoundfortbraggca both spots are amongst the many inspirations of why we moved here! 🪵🌲🌗pictured also are just a few of the many arts opportunities the museum has provided:
I got my hands on some Mendocino County, Ca jade! The west coast from Central America into Canada has deposits of this gem and the colors vary with shades of green, white, black, and even lavender. The jade found in Mendocino county seems to be a mixture of white and green and I’m excited to see how the swirls look in these two pieces of rough jade. Now I have to get the rock saw going. 🌿 #lapidary #nephrite #nephritejade #jadeite #westcoast #mendo #mendocino #mendocinocounty #greenstone #jade #stonecarving
