Hammered Rings …Customized

Written March 25, 2013

I am often asked to add some flare to a hammered band with a gemstone so I work with my customers to customize.

This ring is in 14K White Gold and I set the customer’s diamond that she had me take out of an older ring.

A 14K Rose Gold 3mm hammered ring with a 6mm yellow citrine, this ring was made for a customer that already had a matching rose gold wedding band.

Here is a 6mm ‘satin finish’ Tiger Stripe hammered ring in sterling silver, the customer requested a cushion cut white topaz be set in a thicker bezel.

London Blue Topaz set in a tapered Regular Hammer ring. My customer had bought this stone many years ago and it had been sitting in her jewelry box so she was happy to finally use it.

A 3mm sterling silver with garnet Tiger Stripe hammered ring. I have used so many different gemstones over the years!

And a smokey quartz cushion cut gem set inline with the hammered band.

African Glass

Written August 10, 2012

I just added a bunch of necklaces to this site made of African Bottle Glass.  Last year at a gem and mineral show I purchased the beads from a Ghanan man.  He travels back to Ghana periodically to buy beads for import.  The bottle glass beads are made from crushing up old bottles and remelting them.  I love repurposed, recycled and reused materials and these are fun and colorful.  You won’t see many of them out there.  The necklaces are chunky and kind of weighty on the neck, I like the feel of them.  A lot of people have thought they were beach glass because they have a tumbled, matte surface.

Also I made some lighter necklaces with African white-heart glass beads.  White-heart beads have clear colored glass with a white center that winds up giving them a pretty glow.  They’re mixed with chevrons and smaller bottle glass beads.
